There is More to a Cork Board Than Just Cork

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Ordinarily, when people think of a cork board, they imagine one on a wall at school, or in a community center. Presently, cork boards are not just limited to wall mounting purposes. There are free standing cork floor stands, that do not have to be mounted to a wall at all. Furthermore, a cork board comes in several styles, not just the ones you are remembering fondly from your school days. This article discusses (3) different corkboard styles that are currently on the market, to help you think differently about cork boards going forward.

Combination cork boards are excellent space savers, as they succeed in maximizing wall space by providing 2 for 1 capabilities, this frees up a great deal of wall space to use for other things. Economically, this is a great buy because you get 2 necessary bulletin boards for the price of one. By having these two essential boards built into one display, it offers you an array of display possibilities, as well as flexibility in what you display.

A combination cork board is offered in many styles, we will discuss (3):

One style features a corkboard on one side combined with a green chalkboard on the other.

This combination unit generally comes with a box of chalk and an eraser.
A second style includes a cork board alongside a dry erase white board. This combination unit is typically provided with a box of colored markers and an eraser
A third option includes a fabric board next to a white dry erase board. The difference with the fabric board is that is a more upscale alternative to cork. It's coloring will usually be different than cork as well. This option usually comes with a box of colored markers and an eraser as well.

I have seen each of these options offering a convenient storage tray to keep your markers, chalk, and eraser readily available. Most units are encased by an anodized aluminum frame that not only provides a sturdy border, but also matches most decorating schemes.

Enclosed cork boards feature swinging, locking frames keep your bulletins, announcements, and important documents safe from public tampering. These cork boards are offered in many styles and sizes. You can choose between enclosed bulletin boards with one, two, or three locking doors, depending on how large a space you need for your notices and flyers.

The cork boards are provided in aluminum casings or wood casings, and both framing options feature several color finishes.

For wood framing, you will most likely be able to choose between oak, cherry, walnut, mahogany, and black.
Whereas for aluminum frames, your options will most likely be gold, bronze, black, silver and more. The enclosed swing frame corkboard options are practically unlimited to suit any size cork board, as well as the environment you are putting them in. These corkboards are ideal to use in college dorms, auditoriums, offices, break rooms, community centers and more.

A free standing cork board brings unlimited flexibility to these already versatile display products. Instead of succumbing to just displaying bulletins and other notices to corkboards mounted on walls, cork floor stands give you more possibilities. Many cork floor stands feature the enclosed swing frame models where the corkboards are protected by the swinging, locking doors. The only difference here is that these displays are free standing and can be moved to wherever you see fit, and as frequently as you'd like.

Some of these free standing corkboard displays will include brochure holders and literature trays.

Having this added holder or tray gives a consumer the option to take away information with them. After they see what's on the board, they can walk away with more literature to understand it better. The cork floor stands are perfect for any office lobby or heavily-traveled hallway. They are also double-sided for optimal display space. When placed in a hallway or foyer, people can walk around the free standing display to see what is being offered on either side.

To change your messages in these displays, simply unlock the two door locks and swing the door open. Your messages will be held in place by push pins or thumb tacks and kept safe under lock and key.
